Greenhead 10th - 11th June 2007

The show itself was blessed with amazingly good weather and all the public seemed to have a great time looking round the various crafts that were taking place and watching the Roman drill, Celtic fighting and the bit the kids love best – they get armed with pipe lagging and get to attack the adults in the arena, always noisy but good fun.
The schools that came went away suitably armed with lots of information and all sorts of things like pots and felt bracelets they had made whilst they were there.
Evenings were fun at this site as the various Romans trooped up to the top of the wall in kit and stood posing for pictures on the top, but were in various stages of exhaustion by the time they got back to camp.
An excellent show and good fun, apart from the midges which appear in clouds from the lake when the sun goes down, an occurrence that caused the Romans to abandon their tents and spend the night in their cars.
But the stars of the show, at least from the publics point of view, were the ferrets who got oodles of attention and were very well behaved.
