The Basics

Firebox – (anachronism? maybe)
One of the things we have to do is use a firebox.  Ideally we would be very traditional and dig a pit in the ground, line it with clay, surround it with stones and use this for our firepit.  However, due to the places where shows are held event organisers generally do not want a burnt hole in the middle of their beautiful lawns, so we use a raised firebox.  Using the Iron Age liking for decorating anything and everything, the legs and decorations are all hand forged animals, we have bulls, horses and sheep.  These decorations are there for more than just show, the various horns make very useful supports for pieces of work in the fire. And help to save scorching our hands.

Hammers and Tongs and Tools

The tongs that we use have nearly all been made by Dai, this is traditional and also very practical.  You get exactly the tongs you need to make your work easier and safer.  As you can see the tongs are various shapes and sizes to cope with a variety of jobs and different size material.

We also use a range of punches and chisels for cutting, making holes and decorating our work.
