Anachronisms

OK, we have no problem admitting that while we try to be as accurate as possible, there are some anachronisms in our working environment, but these are there for health and safety reasons.

The main anachronism that people see is that we use safety glasses when we are working.  We thought long and hard about this and while we know the glasses can look out of place, neither of us wants to lose an eye – it would jolly well hurt for a start, and we both have ‘real’ jobs to do in the week in order to pay our bills and pay for this glorious pastime of ours – we hope that people will understand this.  Should you wish to take any pictures of us without the glasses please ask, we will do our best to help you get the pictures you want without compromising the safety of ourselves and the public.

We rope off our working area – this is in order to keep a safe distance between the public and hot things.  Fires spit, bits of hot metal fly off, tools fall over and so on, we don’t want anyone to have their day out spoilt by being hurt by even a minor burn or bump so for your own safety please stay behind the ropes.  This also prevents us being distracted by people appearing where we don’t expect them, working with hot metal a distraction can cause an accident.

These are the main anachronisms, although if you look you may well spot more such as the fire extinguisher hiding under a blanket.
